Background and Purpose |
The International Conference on
Modeling and Diagnostics for Advanced Engine Systems (COMODIA) has
a long history. The first COMODIA was held in 1985, under the name
“The International Symposium on the Diagnostics and Modeling of
Combustion in Internal Combustion Engines” and was organized by
the Engine System Division of the Japan Society of Mechanical
Engineers (JSME). Subsequently, COMODIA was held in 1990, 1994,
1998, 2001, 2004, 2008, and 2012. Initially, papers were presented
on combustion diagnostics and modeling internal combustion
engines, including papers on laser diagnostics, numerical
simulation, and combustion technologies, and great contributions
to the development of internal combustion engines were made.
However, because of increasing demands for engine performance,
more integrated and broader strategies have been required of
engineers and researchers in the field of engine systems.
Therefore, the full name of the conference was changed in 2008
though the name of COMODIA has been used. Now, we are facing the
next stage of development of engine systems, which requires the
achievement of greater thermal efficiency with reduced exhaust
emissions.
COMODIA
2017 will have five sessions on special topics: “Modeling for
engine simulation”; “Heat transfer measurement and analysis”;
“Chemical reaction analysis”; “Novel measurement”; and “After
treatment”. Other topics are welcome, including various combustion
technologies for internal combustion engines and engine control.
This conference
considers all engines, regardless of the size of the engine,
including car, ship, stationary gas, and small engines. One of the
objectives of COMODIA was to reveal physical and chemical
phenomena in internal combustion engines. Another purpose was to
provide a discussion opportunity for researchers and engineers,
gathered from all over the world, to create technologies to
control engines under the best conditions based on scientific
knowledge through modeling. |

Reviewing Process |
A two-step qualification process is adopted for papers to be
presented at COMODIA 2017. In the first step, all the abstracts
submitted are evaluated. In the second step, full papers are
evaluated by reviewers.
Abstract submission must be made
through online abstract
submission system not later than January 27, 2017.
Abstract should be no longer than 300 words.
Abstract should include title, first and family names of contact
person, all author(s) name(s), affiliation(s), full address with
postal code, telephone/fax number, email address and some key
words. Acceptance notification will be made by February
17, 2017.
Authors of accepted contributions are
required to submit full-paper drafts not later than March 31,
2017. Reviewers' comments will be sent to the authors for possible
revision in the second step. Acceptance notification for
presentation will be made by April 28, 2017. The final
camera-ready paper to be included in the proceedings must be
received by May 19, 2017. |

speakers at COMODIA, who are JSME members or member candidates, will become candidates for "Best
Presentation Award of the Engine Systems Division" and "JSME
Fellowship Outstanding Presentation Award for Young Engineers".
